History

1SC Guarding Limited (1SC) was established in 1997 by Managing Director David Jones, following extensive experience as both a buyer and end user of security services across organisations including the BBC and the London Borough of Southwark.

Drawing on a background as a long-serving soldier, David founded the company with a clear objective: to deliver disciplined, professional, and properly managed security services, challenging the inconsistency and low standards that historically characterised parts of the manned guarding sector.

From inception, 1SC developed a reputation for quality-led service delivery, supported by strong operational oversight and a carefully selected management team with deep industry experience across training, compliance, vetting, and operational management. The company was an early adopter of full licensing compliance, achieved National Security Inspectorate (NSI) Guarding Gold standard, and established itself as a recognised training provider.

Over time, 1SC has continued to evolve in response to changing regulatory, operational, and client requirements. While maintaining its core guarding expertise, the company has expanded into compliance-led security and defence support services, aligning with UK regulatory frameworks and international standards.

Today, 1SC Guarding Limited operates as a UK Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD) and JOSCAR-registered supplier, supporting authorised government, diplomatic, and defence-sector clients. The business remains grounded in its original principles: disciplined delivery, strong governance, and a commitment to exceeding baseline service expectations through continuous improvement.
